Song-up Village Song-up Village has been designated as a Folklore Preservation Zone. There are about 300 traditional houses and you can meet the friendly island people who still live behind stone courtyard walls in thatched-roof and rock homes. Sogwip'o Sogwip'o is the primary city on the southern coast and is easily accessible from Cheju City by the Cross-Island Highways. It is a fishing port with lovely waterfalls and fine hotels. Sanbanggulsa Temple Sanbanggulsa Temple is a natural grotto containing a seated image of Buddha. It is located halfway up the steep slopes of Mt Sanbangsan on the southwestern coast. Reputed to be one of the twelve most famous sights on the island, the view from the grotto over the coastal fields and offshore waters is spectacular. Cold, clear mineral water trickles out of a cleft in the grotto. One sip of this refreshing water is said to ensure a long life. Rocks on the Yongmori coast below Sanbanggulsa also provide a fascinating view. Mt. Hallasan Covering a major part of Chejudo is Hallasan, the highest mountain on the island. The top of the inactive volcano can be seen from anywhere on the island. It is 6,398 ft above sea level and on its summit sits a pond, which used to be a crater when the volcano was active. The whole mountain is protected as a treasure house of unusual flora and fauna. As the seasons change, Mt. Hallasan provides its visitors with different kinds of beauty. Daeyoo Hunting Area Daeyoo is the only hunting area in Asia. There are eight hunts offered, each taking three hours and guided by 30 hunting dogs. The newest sporting guns from other countries are also available.
