The Queensland Performing Arts Complex at the Queensland Cultural Centre in South Bank Precinct is the major focus for the city's cultural entertainment. It has a brimming schedule of performing arts including theater, musicals, opera, ballet, and musical performances. The Concert Hall, Lyric Theatre, Cremorne Theatre, the new Playhouse Theatre, and the nearby Queensland Conservatorium are venues for performances by local, national, and international touring artists. The Queensland Theatre Company based in the Cultural Centre stages seven productions annually including works by local and international playwrights, as well as international classics.

South Bank Parklands also has a wide range of street performers, bands, shows, and an outdoor cinema. At night, live music venues such as jazz pubs, nightclubs, and discos are strewn throughout the city. Cinemas and art-houses are also scattered around the city, offering latest releases and retrospective programs.
