Entertainment for many non-urban Myanmar would be hanging around at home with friends or nursing a drink at the local teashop, telling jokes and chatting about the day's event. Another good venue for entertainment would be at religious or seasonal festivals. It is the time to enjoy Burmese folk drama and pop music performances. To find clubs or restaurants with live music, then you've got to head on down to larger towns or cities. There, you'll also find karaoke, alcohol and music. Most of the music played is Burmese as according to the government's ruling. Sometimes, you may get to hear some Chinese songs mixed into Burmese ones too. Check out Yangon and Mandalay. There are a few discos and dance clubs there. Most of these nightclubs come with live music. A few of these operates independently. The rest are part of a hotel. For "higher end" entertainment, there are classical musical performances. These are occasionally sponsored by foreign embassies in Yangon.
