Brisbane is a compact city, which is easy to explore on foot. At the heart of Brisbane's Central Business District shopping area is the Queen Street Mall. The large Myer Centre is the mall's core department store with over 200 individual shops. A dining court and food hall offers a variety of international fast food and during lunchtime, both are crowded with office workers. A few shopping arcades reside in the Queen Street Mall namely, Broadway Mall, Brisbane Arcade, and Rose Arcade. Inner suburb shopping will include Paddington and Milton districts where a range of interesting small shops of art, crafts, galleries, and books are available. Australian opals including those found in Queensland are tax free to international visitors and are available from a few specialist stores such as Quilpie Opals. For Aboriginal arts and crafts, check out Eagle street, which is a popular weekend market site and is the best place to go for quality and affordable local arts and crafts. Shopping hours are from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays, and until 9 p.m. on Fridays. During weekends, shops are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and form 10.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Directory
