Miramar Garden Taipei had its grand opening on May 24, 2006.
The Miramar Garden Hotel Taipei was built to help the government meet its Increase Tourists Plan, improve the productivity of the tourism industry and encourage the private sector to develop competitively priced hotels in Taipei. Among the seven hospitality industry companies that tendered bids in phase one of the tourism development project, Miramar Garden Taipei is the 1st BOT hotel to be completed. A joint venture of Miramar Hotel and Tze Shin International Co. Ltd. (TSI), Hotel Taipei Miramar Co. Ltd. was established in February 2004. In March the same year, a contract was signed with the Tourism Bureau and on August 3rd officially commenced operation.
The goal of the BOT Hotel Project is to help the Taiwan government meet its Increase Tourists Plan, and meet the demand for competitively priced hotels for tourists. Miramar Garden Taipei have built upon their previous hotel operating experience to develop an international 5-star European style hotel. Miramar Garden Taipei was originally planned as a basic tourist hotel with rooms priced accordingly. As plans progressed, the management team, drawing on their experience; knowledge of consumers; and opposition to simply copying everyone else, decided to do something different. The common image of lower price hotels says that guests get a small space, simple facilities and limited services. The management team decided to change this perception. They decided to increase the investment to almost NT$1 billion to upgrade the project to a 5-star international standard hotel and still offer very reasonably priced rooms, giving domestic and foreign tourists a unique choice in the market.
