Pangkor Island
In the 60's and 70's, the name 'Pangkor' was synonymous with salted fish, ikan bilis produce, dried shrimps, shrimp paste etc. Today, Pangkor Island is a popular island destination for local and foreigners alike. Pangkor is a small island located on the West coast of Malaysia, and largely inhabited by fishing communities. Over the years, tourism has grown to be a major industry for the island. Just as its name means ‘beautiful', visitors will discover Pangkor to be an island with a lot of magical charm. A 40 minutes ferry ride from Lumut will take you to the island. Then, you can rent bicycles and motorbikes to get around the place and do some sight-seeing. A large number of resorts have also sprung up to meet the boom of visitors. Well-known for its sandy beaches and clear waters, visitors can bask under the sun and swim. There're also plenty of water-sports facilities available for you to jet-ski or take a speed boat round the island.
