Mrauk U Introduction

Mrauk U is an archaeologically important town in northern Rakhine Condition, Myanmar. It's also the main city of Mrauk-U Township, a sub region from the Sittwe District. It had been the main city of Mrauk U Kingdom, the most crucial and effective Rakhine (Arakanese) kingdom, from 1430 to 1785. Mrauk U lies roughly 11 km east from the Kaladan River around the banks of their minor tributaries. The city is situated on the small outcrop from the Rakhine Yoma around the eastern side from the Kaladan's alluvial plain. Thus, the nearby countryside is hilly yet also consists of a lot of wetlands, mangroves and ponds.
